In the year of 2021, China government revealed several regulations and drafts for comments about health products you are interested. Antion pulled a list for those articles and some other related information that worth to read again.

Policies & Regulations

On February 20, 2021, the SAMR issued the Available Auxiliary Ingredients and the Use Regulations for Filing Health Food (2021 Edition) and Dosage Form and Technical Requirements of Filing Health Food (2021 Edition), which included powder and gummy in filing health food. It will come into effect on June 1, 2021.

Powder and Gummy are Officially Included in Filing Health Food


On October 8, 2021, the Center for Food Evaluation of State Administration for Market Regulation issued regulations on health food. The labeling requirements for precautions and unsuitable people for health food using different ingredients, selection and confirmation of test methods for iconic components of probiotics and the requirements for document literature during the application and approval were stipulated.

Draft for comments

On December 20, the SAMR issued the notice on soliciting public opinions on three Catalogues of Health Food, and the deadline for comments is January 19, 2022.

There are six raw materials to be included in Catalogue of Raw Materials of Health Foods, including soy protein isolate and whey protein as functional raw materials of health foods, DHA, casein phosphopeptides + calcium, methyltetrahydrofolate calcium and tetrahydrofolic acid, and glucosamine salt as nutrient supplement raw materials.

Original Interpretations & Summary

On January 23, 2021, SAMR issued the corresponding interpretation of the Catalogue of Health Food Ingredients Coenzyme Q10, Melatonin, Fish oil, Spirulina, and Sporoderm-broken of Ganoderma Lucidum Spores Powder. The Catalogue has been issued on December 1, 2020, and it will come into effect on March 1, 2021. Therefore, these five substances become the first batch of functional health food ingredients. SAMR Issued the Interpretation of Filing Ingredients


On February 1, 2021, SAMR issued a notice on the Technical Requirements of Five Ingredients in the Catalogue of Health Food Ingredients of Filing Health Food including Coenzyme Q10 and the corresponding interpretation, it will come into effect on June 1, 2021.

Technical Requirements indicates the specific provisions on the available dosage forms, auxiliary materials and technical requirements for Coenzyme Q10, Fish oil, Sporoderm-broken of ganoderma lucidum spores powder, Spirulina and Melatonin, respectively.
