Analysis of Food Sampling Inspection in the First Half of 2022

In the first half of 2022, the national market supervision departments have completed 2,370,000 batches of food safety supervision and sampling inspection according to related national food safety standards. Among them, 59,400 batches of unqualified samplings were found, and the overall unqualified rate was 2.51%, with an increase of 0.17% compared with the same period in 2021.

Analysis of Unqualified Food Categories

The supervision sampling unqualified rate of processed grain, edible oil and fat and its products, meat products, egg products and dairy products with large consumption was 0.65%, 1.02%, 1.07%, 0.31% and 0.07%, respectively, which were all lower than the overall unqualified rate. Compared with the same period last year, the unqualified rates of 27 categories of foods such as vegetable products and liquor and alcoholic beverage have reduced, while that of 6 categories of foods such as catering food and edible agricultural products have increased.

Analysis of Unqualified Reasons

The problem of excessive pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits is still prominent; the problem of excessive veterinary drug residues in aquatic products is relatively concentrated; microbial contamination of foods occurs frequently, especially the problem of microbial contamination of reusable tableware is prominent; the problem of using food additives beyond the scope and limit in foods such as fried and fermented flour products.

For the unqualified foods found in the sampling inspection, the local market supervision department has taken effective measures to control risks in a timely manner in accordance with laws, and severely investigated and punished violations of laws and regulations. In the first half of 2022, the market supervision department completed the inspection and disposal of 104,700 unqualified food samples, and transferred 1,971 cases to the public security organs. Manufacturers that fail to pass the sampling inspection in multiple batches were shut down and their food production licenses were revoked in accordance with laws; those who violate laws in a bad nature were punished in accordance with laws; those suspected of committing a crime were transferred to judicial organ for legal responsibility.
