Low Temperature Short Shelf Life Dairy may Label Edible Date

On June 4, 2021, the SAMR issued the Announcement of the SAMR on Supplementing the Marking of Edible Duration on the Labeling of Low Temperature and Short Shelf Life Dairy Products (Draft for Comments).

From October 1, 2022, if producing pasteurized milk that required refrigeration and had a shelf life of no longer than 14 days, and fermented milk that had a shelf life of no longer than 30 days, “Please eat (drink) before XXXX year XX month XX day” should be supplemented to the labeling of package. The font and other requirements of marking content should be in accordance with the provisions of the National Food Safety Standard General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods (GB 7718-2011), and the marking location should be prominent and readily legible.
