In the third quarter of 2023, the market supervision departments completed 2,130,838 batches of food safety supervision and sampling inspection according to related national food safety standards. Among them, 55,473 batches of unqualified samplings were found, and the unqualified rate was 2.60%, with a decrease of 0.33% compared with the same period in 2022.

Analysis of Unqualified Food Categories

The supervision sampling unqualified rate of processed grain, edible oil and fat and its products, meat products, egg products and dairy products with large consumption was 0.73%, 0.99%, 0.85%, 0.16% and 0.08%, respectively, which were all lower than the overall unqualified rate. Compared with the same period last year, the unqualified rates of 22 categories of foods such as catering food and biscuits have reduced, while that of 10 categories of foods such as vegetable products, condiments and fruit products have increased.

Analysis of Unqualified Reasons

Some unqualified items accounted for the total amount of unqualified samples: pesticide residue exceeding standards 36.20%, organic contamination 10.03%, the use of food additives beyond the scope or limits 13.20%, heavy metal contamination 6.48%, microbial contamination 18.76%, veterinary drug residue exceeding standards 8.86% and substandard quality indicators 5.27%.

For the unqualified foods found in the supervision and sampling inspection, the market supervision departments have released the results to the public, and taken measures in a timely manner in accordance with relevant regulations to strictly control food safety risks.
