It was sold by mammy garden maternity and infant products store in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, with Changsha Ausnutria Dairy (China) Co., Ltd. as the general agent and produced by AUSTRALIAN DAIRY PARK PTY LTD. According to laws, vanillin is not allowed to be used in infant formula milk powder.
Changsha Ausnutria Dairy (China) Co., Ltd. objected the inspection results and applied for a re-inspection; after the re-inspection, the initial inspection conclusion was maintained.
It is understood that vanillin is a commonly used food additive and is widely used in various flavored foods that need to be increased the aroma of milk, especially dairy products, baked foods, beverages and edible oils. The research shows that vanillin, as a kind of food additive, will not cause harm to human health as long as it is used within the specified scope, but it may increase the risk of taste dependence of infants and young children in the future, such as partial eclipse, picky eater, anorexia.
According to the National Food Safety Standard Standard for Uses of Food Additives (GB 2760-2014), the infants and young children formula is listed in the List of Foods that are Prohibited to be Added Food Flavoring Substances and Food Flavorings, and any food flavoring substances should not be added to the infant and young children formula (0 to 6 months), that is, any food flavoring substance should not be added to Stage 1 infant formula milk powder.
Wangcheng District Market Supervision Department has urged Ausnutria Dairy (China) Co., Ltd. to immediately recall and seal 6726 cans of unqualified food, confiscated illegal gains of 20.3 thousand Yuan and fined 9.6213 million Yuan. Yinzhou District Market Supervision Department confiscated illegal gains and fined mammy garden maternity and infant products store that sold unqualified products a total of 11.5 thousand Yuan.
