Possibly rose by the new policy, during the year of 2017, the import volume of infant and young children formula milk powder is successively increasing, especially there is a tremendous increment in November.
From Jan. to Nov. in 2017, China imported 263,415 tons of infant and young children formula powder, grew 35.3% from the corresponding period of last year. The value of these formula powder are 3.563 billion dollars, increased 34.1% year-on-year. The main importing countries are Netherlands, New Zealand, France, Ireland and Germany.
The average CIF for infant and young children formula powder is $13,532.2/ton, which is converted into ¥80.62/900g.
Reported by the Beijing News, before the formula registration is implemented, there are about 2,300 formulas produced by 108 domestic manufacturers while there are more than 900 formulas from 300 overseas brands according to AQSIQ record. Back to the time before 2014, more than 200 overseas IF manufacturers claimed that their products were launched in China, and the number of claim-import IF brands exceeded 2,000.
As end of Feb. 23, 2018, CFDA approved 1,138 formulas from 148 manufacturers which include 102 domestic plants with 864 formulas and 46 foreign manufacturers holding 274 formulas. Among those successfully registered manufacturers, Beingmate obtained 51 registration certificates, the largest number, with 6 owned plants, the following enterprises are Feihe, Yili, Mengniu.
Relevant Regulations and Standards issued in 2017
In 2017, Chinese departments issued 83 relevant food regulations and repealed one measure, revealed 44 draft regulations about infant formula, established 13 relevant food standards including 9 food safety national standards.
