Information on Food Not Allowed to Enter China in March 2023

On April 28, 2023, the General Administration of China Customs released information on food and cosmetics whose entry was not allowed in March 2023. According to statistics, in March 2023, the national customs detected 177 batches of food that were unqualified of safety and health items and not allowed to enter in the port supervision link.

According to statistics, the place of origin of non-entry food mainly involves Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States.

The non-entry foods this time mainly involved condiment, frozen seafood, pastry, beverages. Among them, the reasons for the failure to enter condiment were mainly no qualified certification materials provided as required and failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access. The reasons for the non-entry of frozen seafood were mainly related to cargo inconsistent with certificate and failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access. The reason for the non-entry of pastry was mainly the use of food additives beyond the scope. The reasons for the non-entry of beverages were mainly no certificate or qualified certification materials provided as required, failure of label and unqualified physical and chemical indicators.

The GACC stated that these non-entry foods have been returned or destroyed at ports according to laws.
