In the third quarter of 2020, the national market supervision completed a total of 2,234,829 batches of food safety supervision and sampling, according to the relevant national food safety standards, 49,534 batches were unqualified samples, with an overall failure rate of 2.22%.

From the perspective of food sampling varieties, the failure rate of meat products, egg products, dairy products, beverages, health food, and foods for special dietary uses was 1.38%, 0.31%, 0.16%, 2.63%, 0.86%, and 0.77%, respectively.

Compared with the same period last year, the failure rate of 21 types of food such as convenience food and fruit products decreased, while the failure rate of 11 types of food such as beverage, tea and related products increased.

The unqualified items mainly include excessive residues of pesticide and veterinary drugs, microbial contamination and incompliance use of food additives, which account for 31.73%, 26.19% and 17.8% of the total unqualified, respectively. The proportion of quality dissatisfaction is 7.27%. Organic matter pollution is occupied 6.65%. Heavy metal pollution is occupied 5.9%.
