In the third quarter of 2022, the national market supervision departments have completed 2,189,518 batches of food safety supervision and sampling inspection according to related national food safety standards. Among them, 64,054 batches of unqualified samplings were found, and the unqualified rate was 2.93%, with an increase of 0.34 percentage points compared with the same period in 2021.

Analysis of Unqualified Food Categories

The supervision sampling unqualified rate of processed grain, edible oil and fat and its products, meat products, egg products and dairy products with large consumption was 0.79%, 1.31%, 1.15%, 0.23% and 0.17%, respectively, which were all lower than the overall unqualified rate. Compared with the same period last year, the unqualified rates of 25 categories of foods such as vegetable products and liquor and alcoholic beverage have reduced, while that of 8 categories of foods such as edible agricultural products and catering food have increased.

Analysis of Unqualified Reasons

Some unqualified items accounted for the total amount of unqualified samples: pesticide residue exceeding the standard 30.82%, microbial contamination 22.22%, organic contamination 10.21%, the use of food additives beyond the scope or limits 9.42%, veterinary drug residue exceeding the standard 8.80%, heavy metal contamination 8.65% and substandard quality indicators 8.28%.

For the unqualified foods found in the sampling inspection, the local market supervision department has taken effective measures to control risks in a timely manner in accordance with laws, and severely investigated and punished violations of laws and regulations.
